Abe Belmoufid
Chef Abe’s story begins in Morocco, where he chose to pursue his passion for food over a traditional academic path. He enrolled at the ITHTGM Culinary Institute in Fez and graduated with honours in 2003. Over the next several years, he refined his craft in some of Morocco’s top kitchens, mastering classic techniques while building a strong foundation in flavour, discipline, and kitchen leadership.
In 2012, Chef Abe immigrated to Canada, continuing a proud family tradition of chefs. He joined the Longview Steakhouse—an award-winning, family-run restaurant with over three decades of history—where he developed a deep appreciation for North American cuisine and hospitality.
After relocating to Calgary in 2015, Chef Abe simultaneously worked at Hotel Arts and Moxies. These roles helped him sharpen his speed, efficiency, and organizational skills—while giving him a firsthand look at the unique dynamics of both boutique and franchise kitchens.
In 2016, he joined the Calgary Golf and Country Club. His talent, consistency, and leadership quickly stood out, and in just a few years, he was promoted to Executive Chef—a role in which he continues to thrive today.
Beyond the kitchen, Chef Abe is a committed member of the wider culinary community. He is an active member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Chefs Canada, and the Canadian Culinary Federation, where he contributes to the growth and development of the industry. Through mentorship, collaboration, and community engagement, Chef Abe continues to help shape the future of Canadian cuisine.
