Daniel Gowrie

EAU CLAIRE DISTILLERY

Danny Gowrie is an accomplished distiller and production leader with over a decade of hands-on experience in the global spirits industry. After earning his BSc (Hons) in Chemistry in 2014, Danny began his career in the Scotch whisky industry as an analytical chemist. His early exposure to the sensory aspects of whisky for high-profile brands sparked a deeper passion for flavour and product development. Following a year in the industry, Danny returned to academia to complete a Master’s in Brewing and Distilling - laying the foundation for a successful journey in the Scottish craft spirits sector. He went on to develop a range of gin and whisky products, including a standout London Dry Gin that earned him the distinction of being the youngest Scottish recipient of a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition at the time. Danny's expertise later led him back to large-scale production, playing a key role in distilling one of the world’s most iconic gins. In January 2019, Danny moved to Canada to join Eau Claire Distillery as Production lead. His first major project was commissioning the distillery’s new mash house and setting the benchmark for Eau Claire’s single malt new make spirit - laying the groundwork for the inaugural release of Ploughman’s Single Malt Whisky. With a rare blend of technical expertise, creative vision, and operational leadership, Danny continues to push boundaries in craft distillation and uphold Eau Claire Distillery’s reputation for excellence.
