Chef Amit Bangar’s culinary journey began in the Greater Toronto Area, where he developed a passion for flavour that crossed borders and traditions. A graduate of Humber College’s culinary program, he built a strong foundation in classic French cooking before blending that expertise with the Indian food of his upbringing. His first tenure at Calcutta Cricket Club sparked a deeper connection to his heritage, inspiring him to open his own Toronto concept, CurryFace.

Now back at Calcutta as Executive Chef, Amit is steering the kitchen of one of Calgary’s most celebrated dining destinations—an award-winning fixture repeatedly recognized as both one of the city’s best restaurants and best Indian restaurants. His cooking takes calculated, creative risks while staying true to the heart of Indian cuisine. From trophy-case-worthy large-format plates to soulful curries, Amit’s dishes capture the vibrancy of modern Indian dining while honouring its traditions.
